Cafe Francoeur: Reviews & Ratings
We were looking where to eat lunch and in Paris many many places do ear:) so we decided to stop here and it was nice choice! I took my first “ Les 6 escargots” and they were cooked to perfection! My husband had “Veal steak, cheese cream & polenta fries” and cream was really something super tasty!!! I recommend this place ! We took table outside ! But remember in France people can smoke at the restaurants so be aware :)
Very cute and nicely located cafe restaurant with traditional vibe and fast service. Food was good and they have their own nice blond beer
I came across this cafe by chance after a visit to Saint-Vincent cemetery (to visit the grave of the composer Alain Romans) and it’s perfection personified. I love to find somewhere that has a soft boiled egg option for breakfast and not only did the egg have the correct level of dippiness, the presentation was charming. The racking of the outside seating added to its quirky charm and its now on my must see list wherever I stay over in Paris.

Nestled in the heart of Paris’s vibrant 18th arrondissement, Cafe Francoeur offers a genuine taste of French charm and tradition. Situated at 129 Rue Caulaincourt, this café exudes a warm, inviting atmosphere that perfectly complements its authentic menu and attentive service. From the moment you step inside or settle at one of the quaint outside tables, the experience feels both timeless and heartfelt.
One of the standout dishes is the classic Les 6 escargots, a dish lauded for being cooked to perfection with rich, buttery flavors that linger delightfully on the palate. The veal steak paired with cheese cream and polenta fries is another highlight, with its creamy sauce offering a luscious contrast to the tender, expertly cooked meat and crisp fries. These dishes showcase the café’s commitment to quality and tradition, inviting diners into a world where French culinary art is served with genuine care.
Breakfast seekers will appreciate the charmingly presented soft-boiled egg, notable not just for its perfect “dippiness” but also for the attention to detail in its presentation. The café’s own blond beer adds a refreshing, locally crafted touch to the experience, enhancing the ambiance with a subtle but distinctive flavor profile.
For a lighter choice, the Caesar salad caters well to those seeking something fresh yet satisfying, and the hot chocolate here stands out as thick, rich, and deeply chocolatey — a comforting indulgence on any Parisian day. Service at Cafe Francoeur is consistently quick and friendly, aligning well with the bustling yet cozy vibe of the neighborhood.
While there is room for improvement — particularly regarding coffee quality and menu descriptions — the overall experience at Cafe Francoeur remains immersive and genuine. Whether you choose to dine indoors or soak up the quirky charm of the outdoor seating, this café delivers a heartfelt slice of Parisian life and cuisine that beckons a return visit.
